Scripture: Ruth 1:8-17 (omit the word “But” at the start of this passage!)
Sermon: “In Covenant”

Call to Worship:

L We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.
P As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s table, as God has welcomed us.
L In Christ’s name and by his grace, we accept our mission of witness and service to all people.
P We rejoice in God, maker of heaven and earth, and in the covenant of love which binds us to God and one another.

Covenant Renewal (this will take place at the end of the sermon, and will be read in unison):

By God’s grace given in and through Jesus Christ, whom we have confessed as Savior and Lord of our life, we joyfully commit ourselves to our shared ministry.

We pledge to give our time in attendance, our energy in ministry, our attention in prayer and study, and our money in support, all to the building up of the community of faith and its witness to Jesus Christ in the world.

In making this covenant we are pledging to love and serve the Lord, and to trust the Holy Spirit to lead us in all things to witness to our faith through word and deed.

If there should be times when we feel like we are being stretched in uncomfortable ways, we will also trust the Spirit to use them to nudge us toward deeper spiritual maturity.

May God bless all of us who share life and ministry together here at Bixby Knolls Christian Church, that together we may be a blessing to others.
